How Worlds 2026 works
Three stages: Play-In in Los Angeles, Swiss Stage in Allen (Texas) and knockouts in Allen and Brooklyn, with the final on November 14.
1. Play-In (October 15–18)
Four teams from multi-seed regions play a double-elimination bracket, all Bo5. Only the winner reaches the Swiss Stage. The draw was fully random.
- Two opening matches.
- The winners meet; the losers play an elimination match.
- The loser of the winners' match plays the decider against the survivor of the elimination match.
- Qualifier final: winner of the winners' match against the winner of the decider. The winner goes through.

2. Swiss Stage (October 23–31)
16 teams, up to five rounds. Three wins send a team to the quarterfinals; three losses knock it out.
- Round 1: four pools. Pool 1 vs pool 4 and pool 2 vs pool 3. Teams from the same region do not meet.
- Rounds 2 to 5: draw among teams with the same record. No rematches. From round 2, same-region matchups are allowed.
- Series: Bo3 when a series can advance or eliminate a team (teams on 2 wins or 2 losses); the rest are Bo1.

3. Knockouts (November 3–14)
Quarterfinal draw on October 31: the two 3-0 teams face two of the 3-2 teams; the other four are paired at random. Then single elimination, all Bo5: quarterfinals (Nov 3–6), semifinals (Nov 7–8) and the final at Barclays Center, Brooklyn (Nov 14).

FAQ
- What is the difference between Bo1, Bo3 and Bo5?
- It is the maximum number of games in a series: Bo1 is a single game; a Bo3 goes to the first team to win 2; a Bo5, to the first to win 3. In the Swiss Stage, series count, not games.
- Why does the Swiss Stage have up to five rounds?
- Each team plays until it gets 3 wins (qualified) or 3 losses (out). With 16 teams, five rounds leave exactly 8 qualified and 8 eliminated.
- What does a 2-1 record mean?
- Two series won and one lost. Each round only pairs teams with the same record.
- What time are the matches where I live?
- We use the real time zone for each date. Note: Europe switches to winter time on October 25 and the US on November 1, so the offset to Texas changes during the event.
